"Nessmuk" (Sears, George Washington), WOODCRAFT, Forest and Stream Publishing, New York, 1888, B&W illustrations, 149pp, ads, good++, decorated gray cloth (hardcover), George Washington Sears (1821-1890) was a sportswriter for FOREST AND STREAM Magazine in the 1880s, and an early conservationist. His stories appeared under the pen name "Nessmuk" and he popularized self-guided camping tours of the Adirondack lakes in open canoes.
